REPORTS TO: CEO and President
POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the President/CEO, the Head of Business
Development provides business development leadership and direction for all aspects of the organization at operational and strategic leave. Play a key role in defining and implementing the Business Network for Offshore Wind business development strategy.
Effectively manage business development staff resource.

  • Support the Executive Management with the overall business strategy and annual business plans.
  • Develop, implement and manage the recruitment and retention strategy for members and partners
  • Maintain regular contact with member companies, partner companies and potential members
  • Manage the business development team and state outreach managers
  • Work closely with members of the Executive Management team and outreach coordinators to help identify new business opportunities
  • Responsible for the recruitment of members and development and maintaining productive relationships
  • Assist with the development of all local partner engagement and action plans
  • Manage the provision of the Network’s business development services
  • Contribute to the communication plan to ensure target audiences are kept fully informed of developments within the Business Network
  • Contribute to the production of all promotional / marketing materials for members and partners
  • Ensure that the Membership Coordinator keeps all member related information and industry content relevant on the Network website, database, and member association management software
  • Contribute to the overall financial performance of the budget particularly in relation to membership partnership and income generation
  • Identify income generation opportunities including selling sponsorships for all events (IPF, small events, happy hours)
  • Develops and produces all fundraising collateral material with assistance from CEO
  • Research new and innovative approaches to business development and implement where appropriate.
  • Responsible for making sure latest information on US Market is collected and distributed to members.
  • Survey and monitor customer satisfaction with members and partners to ensure good service delivery
  • Understand and promote the capabilities of member and partner companies worldwide
  • Maintains and builds a story bank of internal success stories
  • Maintain relations with external bodies
  • Travel throughout the US and internationally
  • Contribute and take part in board meetings
  • Liaise with Membership Coordinator on membership accounts
  • Plan, market and executive membership events
  • Use CRM and Membership Association software to maximum benefit
  • Provide Presentations on membership and US OSW Market Developments
  • Represent and Act as “Ambassador” for the Business Network for Offshore Wind
  • Perform any duties commensurate with the position as required by the Chief Executive and Executive Vice President

Knowledge & Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • At least two -- five years office experience
  • Must exhibit and demonstrate proven entrepreneurship capabilities
  • The ability to think strategically
  • A sound understanding of member organizations, customer service and business development
  • Ability to manage staff and to delegate responsibilities
  • Ambitious and focused with a drive to succeed
  • Relevant business development experience
  • Ability to work in a virtual office and integrate with the co-workers from a remote location
  • A sound knowledge of international business, administration, marketing and customer services
  • IT literate with extensive experience in all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral with an ability to do so at all levels
  • Able to operate over several projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality at all times
  • Experience in dealing with senior executives within businesses of all sizes
  • Experience of dealing with large organizations with SMEs Other Attributes
  • Must have professional manner and attitude
  • Must be willing to learn and adapt to change
  • Self-motivated, confident and able to work as part of a small team and on own initiatives
  • Knowledge of the energy industry, knowledge of offshore wind a plus
  • Position is preferably located in MA or RI
  • Salary is commiserated with level of experience
